What comes to your mind when you hear “japanese art”? Probably ukiyoe (woodblock prints), ink wash paintings, calligraphy, maybe manga. Bold lines, solid colours, simplified facial features. Realistic art isn’t exactly what we associate with Japan…it doesn’t mean we don’t do this style though! In April we welcomed a new artist to our studio. Horishita’s main style is realistic and here are some of his recent creations.
1. Leg piece geisha and a nine tailed fox.
2. Realistic medium size shoulder piece geisha with cherry blossoms
3. Realistic one point fox mask.
